Description

These Sesame Seed Bread Rolls are soft, fluffy, and perfect for any meal. With a hint of sesame flavor and a golden crust, these homemade rolls will be a hit at your table.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 egg yolk + 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve Yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the egg, softened butter, and yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead and Rise: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Shape and Bake: Divide dough into 12 portions, shape into balls, let rise again. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle sesame seeds, bake at 375°F for 15–18 minutes.
  5. Cool and Serve: Let rolls cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour for a heartier roll.
  • Store cooled rolls in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
