Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Mixture
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Add-ins
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides to allow for easy removal of the fudge once set.
- Melt Butter and Condensed Milk: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk and unsalted butter. Stir continuously until the butter is fully melted and mixture is smooth.
- Add Chocolate and Salt: Add the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips along with the 1/4 teaspoon salt to the saucepan. Continue stirring over low heat until all the chocolate chips have melted completely, and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Incorporate Vanilla and Mix-ins: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the pure vanilla extract. Next, fold in the mini marshmallows and chopped walnuts or pecans if using, mixing gently to distribute them evenly throughout the fudge batter.
- Set the Fudge: Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread the mixture evenly with a spatula to smooth the top. Place the dish in the refrigerator and chill for at least 3 hours or until the fudge is fully set.
- Serve: Once firm, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into 16 small squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- For the classic See’s-style fudge texture, it is best to allow the fudge to chill overnight before slicing.
- Use high-quality chocolate chips to ensure the richest flavor and smoothest texture.
- Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week for optimal freshness.
