Brownie Batter:

  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Cream Cheese Swirl:

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and cocoa powder.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir in red food coloring until batter is evenly colored. Fold in white chocolate chips if using.
  3. Pour half the batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking pan. In another bowl, mix softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of cream cheese mixture over the batter, then pour the remaining red velvet batter on top. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese mixture gently through the batter.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
