Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
- ½ small yellow onion, chopped
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning
- ¼ cup water
Tacos & Toppings
- 8 to 10 soft flour tortillas (fajita size)
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Onion
- Sour cream
- Guacamole
- Shredded cheese
- Queso
- Salsa
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F to prepare for baking the tacos.
- Cook Beef Mixture: Place the lean ground beef in a large non-stick skillet. Add the chopped onion, garlic powder, taco seasoning, and water. Stir well and cook over medium-high heat, breaking up the beef with a spoon until it is browned and crumbly. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Prepare Tortillas: While the beef simmers, fold each flour tortilla into a taco shape and arrange them side by side in a 9×13 inch baking pan, fitting 6 tortillas down the center and 2 on each side for an even layer.
- Fill Tortillas: Evenly divide the cooked taco meat among the folded tortillas in the baking pan.
- Bake Tacos: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the tortillas are heated through and slightly toasted.
- Add Toppings and Serve: Carefully remove the pan from the oven. Fill the baked soft tacos with your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, onion, sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese, queso, and salsa. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- You can customize the toppings based on your preference or dietary needs.
- For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or hot sauce to the toppings.
- Soft tortillas can be substituted with corn tortillas if preferred, but adjust baking time accordingly to prevent drying out.
- Make sure to crumble the beef thoroughly for even cooking and flavor distribution.
- Leftover taco meat can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
