Ingredients
Scale
Peanut Butter Layer
- 1 1/2 cups peanut butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Layer
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp butter (for chocolate layer)
Instructions
- Mix Peanut Butter Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, melted unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir the mixture thoroughly until it is smooth and well-blended.
- Press Into Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. Press the peanut butter mixture evenly and firmly into the bottom of the prepared dish to form an even layer.
- Melt Chocolate: Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until the chocolate mixture is completely melted and smooth.
- Pour Chocolate Layer: Pour the melted chocolate evenly over the pressed peanut butter layer. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread the chocolate smoothly over the surface.
- Chill and Set: Refrigerate the baking dish for about 1 hour, or until the chocolate topping is firm. Once set, slice the dessert into bars and serve.
Notes
- For easier slicing, warm the knife slightly before cutting to prevent cracking of the chocolate layer.
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Use natural peanut butter for a less sweet, more pronounced peanut flavor.
- To make the bars vegan, substitute butter with coconut oil and ensure to use dairy-free chocolate chips.
