Description

This Mint-To-Be Protein Shake is a creamy, refreshing treat made with Greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder, and a touch of mint extract. Prepared using the Ninja Creami, it combines the rich flavors of maple syrup and milk with a subtle minty twist, making it a perfect post-workout snack or a delicious low-fat dessert alternative.

Ingredients

Scale

Shake Base

  • 240 ml (1 cup) 2% milk, divided + more for blending
  • 6 g gelatin
  • 35 ml (2 tbsp) maple syrup
  • 113 g (½ cup) full-fat plain skyr or Greek yogurt
  • 34 g (1 scoop) vanilla protein powder
  • ¼ tsp mint extract (not peppermint)
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • Green food coloring (optional)

Optional Toppings

  • Whipped cream
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Warm Milk and Dissolve Gelatin: In a small saucepan, gently warm half of the 2% milk over low heat. Whisk in the gelatin continuously until it is fully dissolved, ensuring a smooth mixture without lumps.
  2. Combine Shake Ingredients: Pour the warm gelatin mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container. Add the remaining milk, maple syrup, plain full-fat skyr or Greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder, mint extract, a pinch of kosher salt, and green food coloring if using.
  3. Blend the Mixture: Blend all ingredients together using a blender or immersion blender until the mixture becomes completely smooth and homogenous.
  4. Freeze the Mixture: Place the filled pint container in the freezer and freeze for 24 hours to solidify the shake base.
  5. Process in Ninja Creami: After freezing, insert the pint into the Ninja Creami and process it using the “Lite Ice Cream” function, which will churn the frozen mixture into a creamy shake consistency.
  6. Adjust Texture if Needed: If the shake’s texture is crumbly or too thick, add a splash of milk to the pint and re-spin it in the Ninja Creami to achieve a smooth, creamy texture.
  7. Serve with Toppings: Top the shake with whipped cream and sprinkles as desired, then serve immediately to enjoy the refreshing mint flavor and creamy texture.

Notes

  • Use mint extract instead of peppermint for a milder, more authentic mint flavor.
  • Gelatin is essential for the proper texture; ensure it is completely dissolved in the warm milk.
  • Full-fat yogurt enhances creaminess, but you can substitute with lower-fat yogurt if preferred.
  • The optional green food coloring adds a festive look but does not affect flavor.
  • Additional milk can be added during processing to adjust the consistency according to preference.
  • For best results, ensure the shake base is frozen solid before using the Ninja Creami.
