Ingredients
Scale
Sauce Ingredients
- 3 cloves Garlic (crushed; can substitute with garlic powder)
- 1 pinch Salt (for crushing garlic)
- 150 ml Tomato Passata
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (for sauce)
- Black Pepper to taste
Meat Ingredients
- 400 grams Minced (Ground) Beef
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (for cooking)
Buns
- 4 Round Hamburger Buns (cut-side down for soaking; substitutes: pita or other bread)
Instructions
- Prepare the Garlic Tomato Sauce: Crush the garlic cloves with a pinch of salt using a mortar and pestle. In a bowl, combine the crushed garlic with tomato passata, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well blended.
- Form the Beef Patties: Divide the minced beef into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a roughly 1-inch thick patty, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking.
- Heat the Pan and Sear Patties: Heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Quickly sear each patty for about 1 minute on each side until browned on the outside.
- Simmer Patties in Sauce: Pour the prepared garlicky tomato sauce over the seared patties in the pan. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the patties to absorb the flavors.
- Soak the Buns: Move the patties to one side of the pan and place the cut-side down of the hamburger buns into the sauce. Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 10 minutes until the buns are thoroughly soaked and infused with the sauce’s flavor.
- Assemble and Serve: Once the buns are soaked and the patties are fully cooked, sandwich each patty between two pieces of the soaked buns. Serve immediately for best taste and texture.
Notes
- Using fresh garlic provides the best flavor but garlic powder can be substituted if unavailable.
- Ensure the patties are uniform in thickness for even cooking.
- To enhance juiciness, do not press down the patties while searing.
- Soft hamburger buns work best to soak up the sauce; pita bread can be used as an alternative.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the bun’s perfect soaked texture before it becomes too soggy.
