Description

Create spooky and delicious Frankenstein Cake Pops perfect for Halloween or themed parties. Moist chocolate cake mixed with creamy frosting is shaped into quirky lopsided balls, dipped in vibrant green candy melts, and decorated with chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles to bring Frankenstein’s monster to life in a fun and edible form.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake Base

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (including required eggs, oil, and water per package instructions)
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting

Coating & Decoration

  • 12 oz vibrant green candy melts
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (to thin candy melts)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (for eyes and mouth)
  • About 12 lollipop sticks
  • Colorful sprinkles
  • Edible black marker or black icing (optional for detailing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Pan: Preheat your oven as instructed on the cake mix box and prepare a baking pan by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix and Bake Cake: Prepare the cake batter according to the package directions, then pour it into the baking pan and bake until done. Allow the cake to bake completely through.
  3. Cool the Cake: Remove the cake from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool entirely. Cooling is important to prevent melting the frosting when mixing.
  4. Crumble the Cake: Once the cake is fully cooled, crumble it into fine crumbs using your hands or a fork to create the base for the cake pops.
  5. Mix with Frosting: Add the chocolate frosting to the cake crumbs and mix thoroughly until the mixture is moist and holds together when shaped.
  6. Shape Cake Pops: Shape the mixture into slightly lopsided balls to mimic Frankenstein’s iconic look. Insert a lollipop stick into each ball firmly.
  7. Melt Candy Coating: Melt the green candy melts with vegetable oil in a microwave or double boiler, stirring until smooth and thin enough for dipping.
  8. Dip and Decorate: Dip each cake pop into the melted candy coating, allowing excess to drip off. Before the coating sets, decorate with dark chocolate chips for eyes and mouth, add colorful sprinkles, and use edible black marker or black icing for additional facial details. Allow coating to harden completely before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cool before crumbling to avoid a gooey mixture.
  • You can add more or less frosting depending on how moist you want the cake pop mixture.
  • Use vegetable oil sparingly to thin candy melts without making them too runny.
  • Decorations can be customized to fit other spooky themes or colors.
  • Store cake pops in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 3 days.
