Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Marinade
- 1 lb chicken breast, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Vegetables
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup snap peas
- 1 carrot, thinly sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
Sauce & Garnishes
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Green onions, sliced, for garnish
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Marinate Chicken: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced chicken breast with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly and set aside to marinate for 5-10 minutes. This step helps tenderize the chicken and ensures a silky sauce.
- Cook Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until fully cooked and lightly browned, about 4-6 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the bell pepper, broccoli florets, snap peas, and carrot slices. Stir-fry the vegetables until they are tender-crisp, about 4-5 minutes, keeping them slightly firm for the perfect texture.
- Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the vegetables and continue to stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant. This infuses the dish with fresh, zesty flavors.
- Combine & Sauce: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the chicken broth, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and sprinkle red pepper flakes. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and coats the chicken and vegetables beautifully.
- Garnish & Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added texture and a nutty finish. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles as desired.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add fresh chili slices.
- To keep it gluten free, replace soy sauce with tamari and ensure oyster sauce is gluten free.
- Feel free to customize the vegetables based on seasonality or preference.
- Marinating the chicken improves tenderness and flavor absorption.
- Use a high smoke point oil like vegetable or peanut oil for the best stir-fry results.
