Ingredients
Scale
Cake
- 1 box chocolate cake mix plus ingredients listed on the box
Caramel & Filling
- 1 cup caramel sauce, divided
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup roasted salted peanuts, chopped
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate candies or chopped chocolate bars
Whipped Cream Topping
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare and Bake Cake: Follow the package directions on the chocolate cake mix box to prepare the batter. Pour it into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan and bake as directed, usually about 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Poke Holes in Warm Cake: While the cake is still warm, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes evenly all over the top surface. This allows the caramel mixture to soak into the cake.
- Mix and Pour Caramel Filling: In a small bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk with 1/2 cup of the caramel sauce. Pour this mixture evenly over the poked cake, letting it sink into the holes for rich flavor and moisture.
- Cool the Cake Completely: Allow the cake to cool down to room temperature, ensuring the caramel mixture sets and is absorbed well.
- Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. This provides a light, sweet topping.
- Spread Whipped Cream: Evenly spread the whipped cream over the fully cooled cake, covering the surface smoothly.
- Decorate the Cake: Drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup caramel sauce over the whipped cream. Then sprinkle chopped peanuts, chocolate chips, and mini chocolate candies or chopped chocolate bars evenly on top to mimic Snickers flavors.
- Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld and the whipped topping to firm up before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For added indulgence, drizzle chocolate syrup on top just before serving.
- Use chopped Snickers bars instead of mini chocolates for a more authentic Snickers flavor.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
