Pasta:
- 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or your choice)
Beef Sauce:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- Prepare the beef sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil, sauté onion, add garlic, brown ground beef, add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, seasonings, and simmer.
- Combine: Add cooked pasta to the sauce, mix in Parmesan cheese.
- Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra richness, stir in a splash of heavy cream or a pat of butter before serving.
