Pasta:

  • 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or your choice)

Beef Sauce:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the beef sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil, sauté onion, add garlic, brown ground beef, add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, seasonings, and simmer.
  3. Combine: Add cooked pasta to the sauce, mix in Parmesan cheese.
  4. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
