Lemonade:
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and extra basil leaves for garnish
Basil Syrup:
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, loosely packed
- 1/2 cup honey or granulated sugar
Instructions
- Prepare Basil Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine honey or sugar with 1 cup of water. Simmer over medium heat, stirring until dissolved. Remove from heat, add basil leaves, and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain out the basil and let the syrup cool.
- Mix Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice, basil syrup, and remaining 3 cups cold water. Stir well and adjust sweetness to taste. Chill until ready to serve.
- Serve: Serve over ice with lemon slices and fresh basil leaves for garnish.
Notes
- For a sparkling version, replace 2 cups of cold water with chilled club soda just before serving.
