Description

Delight in these easy and elegant Baklava Bites featuring mini phyllo shells filled with a flavorful blend of chopped walnuts, pistachios, and almonds sweetened with brown sugar and cinnamon. Baked to golden perfection and drizzled with a warm honey glaze, these bite-sized Mediterranean treats are perfect for a crowd or a special dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Nut Filling

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pistachios
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped almonds
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Baklava Shells

  • 1 package (15 count) mini phyllo shells

Honey Glaze

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Nut Mixture: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped walnuts, pistachios, almonds, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted unsalted butter. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  2. Fill Phyllo Shells: Spoon the nut mixture evenly into each of the mini phyllo shells, ensuring they are filled but not overstuffed. Arrange the filled shells on a baking sheet in a single layer for even baking.
  3. Bake the Bites: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the phyllo shells turn golden brown and the nuts are toasted and fragrant.
  4. Make the Honey Glaze: While the bites are baking, combine the honey, water, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring gently, just until the mixture is warm and slightly thin in consistency. Be careful not to boil.
  5. Drizzle and Cool: Remove the baklava bites from the oven and immediately drizzle each one with the warm honey glaze, allowing it to soak in slightly. Let the bites cool for a few minutes to set before serving.

Notes

  • For best texture and flavor, serve the baklava bites the same day to maintain their crispiness.
  • If you prefer a traditional baklava taste, you may substitute all nuts with walnuts.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
