Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. fresh strawberries, rinsed and dried
- 1 (12 oz.) bag of orange chocolate melts (Wilton or preferred brand)
- Wax paper
- Candy squeeze tube or zip-tight bag (for piping green carrot tops)
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries: Gently rinse the strawberries under cold water and pat them dry completely with a paper towel to ensure no moisture remains, which helps the chocolate stick better.
- Melt the Chocolate: Place the orange chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them according to the package instructions, typically heating in 30-second intervals and stirring until smooth and creamy.
- Dip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the green leaves and dip it fully into the melted orange chocolate, covering the entire strawberry. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing it on wax paper.
- Shape the Carrot: Once the chocolate begins to set but is still tacky, use a candy squeeze tube or a zip-tight bag with a small cut at the corner to pipe green “carrot tops” onto each strawberry, mimicking the leafy top of a carrot.
- Let Them Set: Allow the chocolate-covered strawberries to harden completely by leaving them at room temperature or refrigerating for 15 to 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are completely dry to prevent chocolate from seizing or sliding off.
- Use high-quality chocolate melts for better flavor and smoother coating.
- If piping green tops, practice on wax paper first to get a steady flow from your squeeze bag.
- Store finished strawberries in a single layer in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for freshness.
